Why is the sand on desert is very hot at day time and very cold at night.?

Since it has low specific heat capacity, means that the energy required to change the temperature of the sand is very little. Hence, in the day, the sand gets very hot due to the sun and during the night it gets very cold since it loses heat fast to the surroundings
